Dreamweaver set-up

Technical info for free website hosting
Sorry, we have stopped accepting new applications.

Here are the basic instructions to set-up a new website hosted on JSM-Hosting.com using Dreamweaver CS5.5.
Click here if you wish to convert a FrontPage website into Dreamweaver.

Setting-up a website with Dreamweaver

Open Dreamweaver.

  1.  On the top menu, click: "Site - New site...", and enter in "Site":
    • Site Name: the name you want Dreamweaver to call this website
      (typically "yourdomain.ext")
    • Local Site Folder: Select the folder on your local disk in which your local website is being developed (for a new website, the one created in 1. above)

  2. Select "Server" in the left menu then click on "+" and enter:
    • Server Name: the name you want Dreamweaver to call this server configuration (for instance, "JSM-Hosting")
    • Connect using: FTP
    • FTP Address: "yourdomain.ext" (or "yourIPaddress" - see here)
    • Username: "your-user-name" (the one you were given when opening your JSM-Hosting account - see here)
    • Password: "your-password" (the one you were given when opening your JSM-Hosting account - see here)
    • Root Directory: "www/" or "public_html/"
    • Web URL: "http://www.yourdomain.ext" (see here)
    • Click on "Test" to ensure that your FTP info is correct
    • If it is, click on "Save", then on "Save" again.

  3. Our server uses as default file extension ".htm" but DreamWeaver's default is ".html". To change it:
    •  On the top menu, click: "Edit", "Preferences..."
    • Select "New Document" in the left menu.
    • In "Default extension", enter ".htm".
    • Click on "OK". You're done!

JSM-Hosting wishes you a nice day!
